Description

The 1989¨C90 Edmonton Oilers season was the Oilers' 11th season in the NHL, and they were coming off their shortest playoff run in seven years when the Los Angeles Kings defeated Edmonton in the first round of the playoffs. Edmonton would improve their point total from 84 to 90, and finish in 2nd place in the Smythe Division. In the 1990 Stanley Cup Final, the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Boston Bruins four games to one. For the Oilers, it was their fifth Cup win in seven years, and the only one without Wayne Gretzky (in fact in the 2nd round, the Oilers defeated the Gretzky's Kings). This would be the last of eight consecutive Finals contested by a team from Alberta (Oilers x 6, Calgary Flames x 2).
